The 2001 Leap Year RTC
This rumor spread because of a number of
instances of testing programs declaring that 2001 was shown by some PC's to be
a leap year. In fact when we ran independent tests on those PC's there was no
problem. This strongly indicates that there was an error in the other testing
programs, not the PC's.
However, in view of the fact that there may be
a problem, we must test for it. Some companies are now taking the view that
these are spurious tests and therefore unecessary. We take the view that it is
safer to NOT make such assumptions, and carry out the test anyway.
